White unleashed 10.Nxe6! and won quickly as the knight cannot be taken as 10..fe 11.Qh5+ and Black is crushed, for example 11..g6 12.Bxg6+

GM Vovk was out for blood but Hambleton had the chances.

After 26.Qxf5(diagram), White was trying to blow up Black’s king position but the fortifications were too strong.

Black had the spectacular 26..Be4! available which forces off some of White’s attackers by attracting the queen to the dangerous e-file or allowing ..Bg6 reinforcing the kingside and after, White’s attack is over.
